It’s more fun with street foods in the Philippines

Street food is one of the well-known foods that we Filipino are fan of eating, most of us prefer street foods because it is way more cheaper and it’s way  more fun because you get to taste different variants of foods, like kwek-kwek, fishball, kikiam, calamares and dipped in the very famous manong sauce because it’s very different sauce than we usually make in our home. Another food that we are proud of is “binatog” this is made of corn and topped with coconut and sugar or salt, it really taste difference because it gives you a sweet or bitter taste. This kind of foods is usually sold in the street side, some of them have bikes and sidecars and some are just in front of their homes, this makes us differ from other countries because wherever you go you
can see street foods that you can really enjoy.

One of the street foods that is also famous in the Philippines is halo-halo which is a combination of shaved ice, evaporated milk, sweet fruits like banana, sweet fruits like banana, sweet potato, corn, coconut, sweet beans and topped with leche flan and ube and after that you mixed it up although it sounds weird but if you taste it, you will know why it is very famous, while some people prefer it with ice cream because it adds more taste in halo-halo. Together with this some vendors adds other street foods for variants that is good to partner with halo-halo are turon, bananacue, and combo and the main ingredient for this is banana and the other one is sweet potato. This foods is usually served in afternoon
and we called it “Mirienda”.

Another street foods that is popular in the Philippines  are the one that is cooked grilled and we called it “Ihaw-ihaw”, the usual foods that is served are isaw, betamax, barbeque, and adidas which is chicken feet, we filipino’s are fan of eating this because we can see the process of cooking it and they put a red sauce that provides another taste that we really love and after that we dip it in vinegar sauce with onion and the other one has chilli for those who wants spicy sauce, this food is good to partner with rice and sometimes it is prepared with alcoholic drinks.

When the night comes there goes the balut vendors where they go to different places and sell while shouting “ balut! Balut!” and they also sell another egg called penoy,  balut is considered as exotic foods because only who has the courage of eating the duck embryo and they also sell chicharon which is made from pig skin and this foods is dipped with vinegar either spicy or not, some tourist take the courage to taste it because they are curious on what balut is, some of them may like it but some of them not, but what i’m sure is they experience a new kind of things. Some of the vendors also sell peanuts together with balut and penoy because
this food is really good to eat during night time.

During christmas season, we filipinos had a tradition where we go to church and complete the 9 days mass and we believe that if we complete it our wish will come true and after the mass we expected that there are vendors who sell puto Bungbong  and they put margarine,. Coconut and brown sugar on top and bibingka which is made of batter, and they put salted egg and cheese inside and topped with margarine, coconut or cheese on and usually they sell it outside the church, we really enjoy eating it because we can feel the christmas season is coming, this tradition is still with us because it is passed on through
generation to generation, this foods also bring
out  our childhood memories.
